William Eggleston: Election Eve
$98.00William Eggleston: Election Eve
In October 1976, William Eggleston drove from Memphis to Plains, Georgia, the home of Jimmy Carter, a month before he became president. The 100 photographs he made along the way are mostly empty of people: lonesome roads, train tracks, gas stations, houses. It’s a quiet, unsettling portrait of a small town, a long way from the one the media later sold. First made in 1977 in an edition of five, this Steidl edition is the first time the full sequence has been available to everyone.
